1. READ THIS! This is not a rule. But since this is what you see at sign up, here are a few tips. Think carefully about your username. This can NOT be changed. You can use a nick name if desired. This is a highly private server, kind of disconnected from the public web.

When you first enter your account there is not much to see as far as your live feed is concerned. Only posts from users on this Instance. Go to a few users on this platform and follow their follow list or like their follower posts. Then your live feed will start filling up.
2. What can you post here: You can post news, nature stories, the climate crisis, music youtube videos, wildlife , Nature pictures, mechanical repair, camping trips, vanlife etc, or about another hobby you have for example. Please do not go on a posting frenzy, it's not cool.
3. Again this is not a rule but for general info. This social media server is closed and private to other decentralized servers on the web. However, if this community likes to interact with other servers, we can.
   The owner of overlander.social can change instantly the parameters to connect to other servers- if desired by the users of this server after a discussion on the subject.
4. Just for more info: Mastodon’s admin interface has set up the registration and login credentials. Administration of this instance can not see a password. When you create an account, your password is put through a modern, irreversible hashing algorithm.
   It is resilient against global data breaches, features robust account security, and does not track users for ads. Password resets: Because the original password cannot be reversed, administrators cannot "recover" or remind you of your password. They can only generate a link to let you create a new one. And just a reminder before comparing this server to your unsecured public social media: Facebook and Twitter employees can access your account, passwords not needed.
5. MORE INFO: We can post about about travel by 4x4, 4x2, camper, caravan, motorcycle, bicycle, 2X0 hiking , news, other hobbies, music, nature, animals, comedy, mechanical car repair, etc.
   We are NOT an extreme technical 4x4 Instance. We as users have a deep respect for nature. Stay on that designated dirt road on your travels. Conserving nature is very important in this group. Act like it. No tech or AI posts. Technical help experts about any camping or overlanding are highly needed here. Music youtube videos posts are highly encouraged, or important news that affect us for example. No computer tech or AI posts.
6. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia, or casteism.
   Transphobic behavior such as intentional misgendering and deadnaming is strictly prohibited. Promotion of "conversion therapy" is strictly prohibited. Criticism of governments and religions is permissible.
7. No incitement of violence or promotion of violent ideologies
   Calling for people or groups to be assassinated, murdered, or attacked physically is strictly prohibited.
8. No harassment, block evasion, dogpiling, or doxxing of others
   Repeat attempts to communicate with users who have blocked you or creation of accounts solely to harass or insult individuals is strictly prohibited. Coordinated activity to attack other users is prohibited. Posting of private personal information about others is prohibited.
